Actor-director Cheran got into nostalgic mode when a fan of the actor shared a picture of him with Superstar Rajinikanth in 1997. The picture was taken during the success meet of Rajinikanth's hit film, Arunachalam. Director Cheran was invited to the stage and felicitated for having made a film like Porkalam.
Director Cheran, who saw the post said that it was one of the most memorable moments in his career. He added, "Superstar Rajinikanth hasn't changed one bit since then. He continues to praise those who do good and there's no one like him. Right from Cinema2Home (which Cheran founded as an attempt to curb copyright infringement in Tamil cinema) to bringing out DVDs, he lauded me for all my attempts.
Cheran added that though he never got the opportunity to work with him, their relationship remains the same. Cheran said that he had wished Rajinikanth a speedy recovery when the latter was admitted in a Singapore hospital for treatment.
Cheran was last seen in Rajavukku Check, a thriller in which he played an alchoholic cop and someone who suffers from Kleine–Levin syndrome or Sleeping Beauty Syndrome, which makes him sleep for long periods — even weeks!
