Hindi Movie Bulandi Released on 7th January 2000

Bulandi was a remake of Tamil film Nattamai, which was later remade into Telugu as Pedarayudu and starred Superstar Rajinikanth in the same role as that in the Hindi version. This movie was released on 7th January 2000 and did a average business however Rajinikanth role grabbed massive attention.

Superstar Rajinikanth received "Padma Bhushan" the third-highest civilian award of India, during the year 2000 infront of former Prime Minister Vajpayee from the hands of President KR. Narayanan for his contribution towards Indian Cinema on 30th March 2000.

Superstar Rajinikanth Received "1999 Best Actor Award" for Padayappa Movie

Rajinikanth won the 1999 Tamil Nadu State award for best actor for his performance in Padaiyappa. Padaiyappa was also adjudged the best movie of the year. Ramya Krishnan won a special prize for her performance as Neelambari. The awards will be presented by the Chief Minister during a function in January 2001.
