Shah Rukh Khan tried to recreate the Big B's charisma with a new age don and now actor Ajith will play the contemporary Billa for Tamil cinema lovers.
We have tried to make it look slick and up to the point. It's more of a visual film. We've retained two of the original songs and remixed them Ajith said.
What's more the original Billa, superstar Rajinikant himself is reportedly pleased with the remake.
"We had a special screening of the two-minute version and Rajini sir happened to see it and he's called the director and had a lot of nice things to say about the promo and the project" Ajith said.
But talk about Ajith inheriting the superstar's throne and the actor gets modest.
"There will never be another superstar like Rajinikant. It's for the people and the media to work it out and giving the title to the right candidate. But I'm not here wanting to remake Billa gunning for the numero uno post. No, that's sincerely not on my mind"Â Ajith said.
A popular actor in Tamil cinema, Ajith has experimented with his roles in films like Asoka, Mugavari and the latest Kireedom. So has the actor ever bowed down to the fan pressure?
"Mugavari for instance has a realistic ending where the hero doesn't achieve his goals and walks away in search of a job. Then it happened with Kireedom. So, I guess after a particular stage you have limitations with your scripts. You're forced to follow a formula" Ajith said.
Though, Ajith has another ambitious project to start work on, as of now he's keeping his fingers crossed hoping that Billa hits bulls eye at the box office this December.
