Indian documentary – For The Love Of a Man – directed by Rinku Kalsy about Rajinikanth’s superstar status and his fandom, has been selected to premiere at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival this year. The film, which was made over four years, revolves around the fan frenzy which is taken to a whole other level by the superstar’s admirers.
Director Rinku Kalsy quit her lucrative career as a programme director at a Dutch television channel to make this film along with her friend, Joyojeet Pal. The documentary showcases many aspects of Rajini-worship, including the huge cutouts, paal abhishekam, processions, social welfare activities, and religious rituals. Here are some clips from the film.
Tamil feature film Visaaranai will also premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, in the competitive category.
