(Wednesday, 6th August 2025)

The highly anticipated audio launch for Superstar Rajinikanth's film Coolie took place on August 2, turning the hall into a celebratory and emotional event. The evening was filled with cheers from fans and heartfelt speeches from the cast and crew, including Shruti Haasan, Anirudh Ravichander, Sathyaraj, Nagarjuna, and Aamir Khan, and director Lokesh Kanagaraj. The event was a testament to the immense respect and love the film industry has for Rajinikanth.

Rajinikanth's 10 Key Moments

Thalaivar Rajinikanth delivered a memorable speech, sharing several candid and humorous anecdotes. Here are the highlights:

  • He jokingly complimented actor Nagarjuna, saying a famous line from the film Mankatha ("How long can I pretend to be a good guy?") perfectly suits his negative role in Coolie.

  • He recalled a funny exchange with director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who told him he was a fan of Kamal Haasan. Rajinikanth quipped, "Did I ask you?" to which Lokesh responded that Coolie wasn't just a typical action film but an intelligent one.

  • He hailed Lokesh as the "real hero" of the film, crediting the director's unique vision and the organic hype surrounding their collaboration for the film's high expectations.

  • He spoke about his ideological differences with actor Sathyaraj, but praised him for being an honest and trustworthy person who always speaks his mind.

  • He joked about not being able to sit through a two-hour interview given by Lokesh, highlighting his preference for short and to-the-point content.

  • He declared he will never give an interview, humorously explaining that interviewers would eventually try to uncover all his secrets.

  • He shared his surprise and excitement when he initially thought Lokesh's "big star" cameo was going to be Kamal Haasan, a close friend and frequent collaborator.

  • He expressed his admiration for Aamir Khan, calling himself a fan and praising the actor for taking on a role in Coolie despite being one of Bollywood's biggest stars.

  • He revealed that actress Shruti Haasan told him she was more excited to work with him than with her own father, Kamal Haasan, because there was less pressure.

  • He playfully told choreographer Sandy, "I'm a 1950s model" who has run "lakhs of kilometers," asking him to "handle me with care" and not push him too hard during the dance numbers.
