Childhood
Rajini was intelligent
& active in his childhood. He started his education
in ‘Premier Model School’, in Basavangudi at his age
of 5.
He lost his mother
Ramabai, at his age of 9, when he was not aware of
that valuable lost. His brother Sathyanarayana took
Rajini to the hospital, where his mother was in
critical stage. His mother took Rajini’s hand &
kissed. A last kiss from his mother. The next day
was her last day.
Rajini was not aware
that he is not going to see his mother again, at
that period of his childhood.
This is later
explained by his elder & beloved brother
Sathyanarayana in an article as follows:
“He was just one of
the playful children at his child hood. He was only
9yrs old, when our mother died. He was not able to
feel her death & he was cycling on the street, when
our mother was kept in our house for funeral.
The next day he
started to cry, after he realized that mother is
missing. From the moment, my wife became his mother.
He was very fond of his sister-in-law. He was very
helpful to her in household works. Everyday, I used
to check for him, as soon as I return to house from
work. I‘ve never slept without seeing him.
He used to come to
house very late at times, after roaming around with
his friends. I didn’t like this & I’ve scolded &
beaten him for this reason. But, he had never taken
my hard words or my beatings seriously. Soon, he
will sit near me as usual for our dinner.”
Later, when Rajini
explained about his mother’s death, he used to
express his deep grief. “I’m not matured, to
understand my mother’s death at that age. Now, I’m
longing for my mother. When I thought about my
mother on the shoot of the song, “Amma, nee sumantha
pillai…” (Annai Ore Alayam) I couldn’t control my
tears.”
