Superstar Rajinikanth Opens Green Park Resort in Coorg
(Monday, 16th February 2026)
The Green Park Resort, located in the scenic hills of Coorg, often referred to as the “Kashmir of Karnataka,” was inaugurated on the occasion of producer Atluri Purnachandra Rao’s 90th birthday. The resort was formally opened by Chinna Jeeyar Swamy and Superstar Rajinikanth in a grand ceremony.
Speaking at the event, Rajinikanth fondly recalled his early Hindi film journey in 1983, when Purnachandra Rao approached him with an offer. Initially hesitant and unsure about entering Hindi cinema, he later agreed to act in Andha Kanoon, a remake of the Telugu hit Sattam Oru Iruttarai. He shared that knowing Amitabh Bachchan would play a guest role, along with stars like Hema Malini and Reena Roy, gave him the confidence to take up the project.
Rajinikanth also reminisced about how distributors were initially hesitant because he was new to Hindi cinema. However, Purnachandra Rao distributed the film himself, and it went on to become a massive “bumper hit.”
Highlighting their deep personal bond, Rajinikanth described Rao as a perfectionist and a hardworking producer who treated him like a son. He recalled a touching gesture where Rao gifted him a 5.5-foot marble statue of Radha and Krishna from Rajasthan, knowing his wife’s devotion.
The Superstar mentioned that both he and Amitabh Bachchan had been invited to inaugurate the resort. While Amitabh could not attend due to health reasons, Rajinikanth ensured his presence to honor their long-standing relationship.
He also expressed high regard for former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, who graced the occasion, calling him a “gentleman” and an “inspiration.”
Rajinikanth concluded by wishing Atluri Purnachandra Rao a long, healthy life and congratulated him on the successful completion of the beautiful Green Park Resort.
