Superstar Rajinikanth is all set to return as Muthuvel Pandian in Nelson Dilipkumar’s much-awaited sequel, Jailer 2. The makers announced the film with a thrilling teaser that was also screened in select theaters across the country.

The teaser opens with a radio announcement warning of an approaching cyclone, while director Nelson and composer Anirudh Ravichander engage in a humorous conversation in Goa. The two are seemingly brainstorming ideas for Nelson’s next project.

What starts as playful banter quickly escalates into chaos as people crash through windows and doors, getting shot or stabbed in the process. Amid the mayhem, a shadowy figure emerges, wielding a butcher knife and a gun. As he steps out, armored vehicles storm the compound. The figure is soon revealed to be Rajinikanth’s Muthuvel Pandian, unleashing destruction on his enemies.

An awestruck Anirudh exclaims to Nelson, “This looks fearsome, Nelsa! Let’s make this into a film!”—marking the official announcement of Jailer 2. The teaser also features a revamped version of the hit song Hukum from Jailer, aptly titled Hukum (Reloaded).

The 2023 blockbuster Jailer was a massive success, grossing an impressive ₹650 crore worldwide. The film opened to highly positive reviews and strong box office numbers, with overseas distributor Ayngaran International confirming a record-breaking ₹33 crore opening day collection—the highest ever in Rajinikanth’s career.
