Robot, Endhiran box office collection makes Bollywood look very small. Rajinikanth starrer is the biggest hit in the history of Indian cinema
Endhiran (Robot) starring former bus conductor Rajinikanth has turned out to be a blockbuster. In its third week of release the film has received an overwhelming response from movie goers. Till now the film has grossed Rs 300 crore and it is still going strong.
The out-and-out masala film that has also Bollywood statuesque Aishwarya has broken many previous records at the box office.
From day one the film was a huge success as hundreds of thousands of movie buffs flocked theatres to watch their most beloved star Rajniknath entertain them. They were so impressed by the movie that from day one in many places tickets were sold on black. Besides, most of the theatres went house full.
The success is nothing new for Rajnikanth who is known for his stellar performance in the state. Before the success of the movie his charm was only restricted to Tamil Nadu. He never tasted success in the Hindi movies that is in the north despite making many efforts.
However for the first time in his life he has become a pan-Indian star. His film has been well received in North India too.
Audiences here who are a bit choosy preferred Robot over other recent releases. It is another story that the film has grossed more money from the South. But in North too it has done well. This will only improve Rajnikanth’s stock in India.
At the moment it has become the biggest-ever grosser in the history of Indian cinema. This has been confirmed by trade analyst N.P. Yadav. He said that the first film to make something around Rs 150 crore was 3 Idiots of Aamir Khan. Then Dabangg made more money than 3 Idiots. Also it is going strong at the box office. But the Robot has taken a huge lead from Dabangg.
Yadav gives the credit to Rajnikanth for the film success. He said: “It is Rajinikanth’s charisma that works in his favour. Moreover it is an out-and-out masala film, with Aishwarya to add to the glamour quotient, the lavish locations and extravagant special effects.
